Dangerous Reactive Aggression

This chapter introduces the first of the "Walk-through" Case-studies. Step by step you are taken through an in incident as it happens in real-time and at each point you are encouraged to reflect on the issues it raises for you, how you might be feeling, what you think is going on and how you think you might respond. The study involves visiting a service user in their home and during that visit the situation suddenly escalates to the point of extreme danger. We return to this case study both in identifying the Rapid Reaction Skills in the following chapter but also Lone-working Risk Assessments and Home Visiting Safety Procedures in later chapters. there is also a brief consideration of the role played by gender differences.
